CEF-2: Community Engagement Facilitators

#Summer CEF-2 : Community Engagement Facilitators - (2 Positions Available)

IA SENB is HIRING summer students, (Community Engagement Facilitators), through the Provincial Government SEED grant.
These positions are for 12 weeks and will take place between May and August 2021.

Primary Position Expectations include but are not limited to:
Facilitate and Support youth & adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to achieve their personal goals through:

  • developing opportunities & activities, to expand participation in range of typical areas chosen by participants (as appropriate for specific Covid-19 Restrictions).
  • facilitating /assisting skill & role development & promoting meaningful participation in typical, valued community life. Including: planning for increasingly self-sufficient nurturing selfdetermination,
  • Actively participate in and contribute to related meetings and training.
  • Maintain accurate documentation,
  • Some work will be done ‘remotely’.

To be Eligible for the SEED position, the candidate (student) must:

  • Be a resident of New Brunswick or a First Nation community in New Brunswick;
  • Be eligible to work in Canada;
  • NOT be an immediate family member (spouse, children, parent, brother or sister) of the employer;
  • Be a full-time student (high school – grade 12 only, university or college) in the current academic year (2020/2021) and,
  • Be attending a post-secondary institution (university or college) full-time in the fall of 2021.

Successful candidates will:

  • Skills & Other Requirements
    • Approved Criminal Reference Check –Vulnerable Sector required
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to plan and implement tasks and to multitask and attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, be flexible, dependable, mature, and
      demonstrate initiative and creativity
    • The following skills, knowledge, experience and certifications are an asset.
    • supporting individuals with cognitive challenges will be an asset
    • proficiency in the use of Microsoft office Suite, e-mail, phone, social media, Microsoft Word and
      Excel for program correspondence and reporting, general office software for data tracking and
      reporting will be an asset
    • Valid Driver's License, Clean driving record, proof of insurance & access to a reliable vehicle will
      be an asset;
    • Current PATH Facilitation; First Aid; CPR; NVCI training/certification; Sign Language;
      Bilingualism

Desired Level of Education :

  • Post-Secondary 3rd to 6th year student with supervisory experience and previous experience working individuals with an intellectual disability, in a relevant post-secondary field,
  • Preferred Fields of Study:
    • Physical Education; Recreation; Education; Community Development; Health / Medical, (nursing,
      Physio, OT, SLP Psychology); Social Work; Project Management; . . . or related
